Helping people feel better has defined much of my working life. That desire to care and make a difference led me into a lengthy and varied career in nursing, long before I discovered clinical massage therapy.From my earliest years as a gymnast, and later as a rower, I developed a quiet fascination with how the body moves and connects — a curiosity that followed me through CrossFit, weightlifting, and rock climbing. Over more than a decade in the NHS, spanning orthopaedics, A&E and beyond, both my clinical knowledge and my understanding of people grew — learning to communicate with care, clarity and sensitivity across very different patients and circumstances, and to put people at ease, whatever their situation. Skills like these — active listening, consent, and safe, professional practice — carry directly into how I treat every client today.Clinical massage therapy is where it all came together: the chance to do the quiet, focused, one-to-one work I love most, bringing everything I'd developed into a space I could shape myself.

What is Clinical Massage Therapy?

Clinical massage - also known as sports massage, remedial therapy, or soft tissue therapy - is the individualised, strategic treatment of muscles, tendons, and fascia, aimed at improving how you feel, how you move, and how well your body functions day to day. The qualification behind this work is a Level 5 Diploma, independently accredited by OCN London - a body recognised by Ofqual, the UK government's qualifications regulator, meaning the training meets nationally recognised standards for quality and safety. I use the title clinical massage therapy, rather than sports massage, because the approach is suited to athletes and non-athletes alike.

What can clinical massage help with?

* General aches, pains and muscle tension
* Joint stiffness and restricted movement
* Recovery and performance for active bodies and athletes
* Postural issues and imbalances
* Chronic, non-specific tension patterns
* Stress and its physical effects on the body

What is the evidence?

There's a growing body of research behind these benefits, for example: massage therapy reliably improves flexibility and is linked with reduced muscle soreness, stress, and anxiety (Dakić et al., 2023); produces a measurable, immediate reduction in muscle stiffness (Eriksson Crommert et al., 2015); and reduces stress hormones including cortisol (Rapaport et al., 2010).

What to expect

Before your first appointment, I offer a free pre-consultation to talk through your health history and anything that needs particular care. Your first session is largely hands-on - a chance to get a genuine feel for your body and for you to experience the work. I work at a pace the tissue can actually respond to, rather than forcing a result. Subsequent sessions can build in a wider assessment of posture and movement, shaping treatment around not just where the discomfort is, but why.Your safety comes first. I'm happy to liaise with any other healthcare professionals involved in your care, and will always refer you elsewhere if that would serve you better.

Cancellation PolicyYour appointment is reserved especially for you. If you need to cancel or reschedule, I respectfully ask for at least 24 hours' notice.Less than 24 hours' notice (excluding illness — see below): charged in full.
No-shows: charged in full.
Running late: if you're more than 15 minutes late, I may not be able to accommodate the full session. I'll do my best to either shorten the treatment to fit the remaining time (charged at full price) or reschedule, depending on what's possible that day.
Illness is treated differently. If you're unwell on the day — for example with a cold, flu, or any infectious illness — please let me know as soon as you can. There is no charge in this case, and we'll simply find a new time once you've recovered. Massage isn't appropriate while you're fighting an infection, so this exception exists for your safety as much as anything else.Genuine emergencies (medical or otherwise) will always be considered on a case-by-case basis.Your Data & Your Right to ComplainI collect personal and health information as part of your booking and consultation, in order to provide you with a safe and effective treatment.
